PETER BASIL
Co Founder
Peter Basil is multi-faceted percussionist/drummer who has worked with major figures in flamenco, hip-hop, jazz, salsa, rock acts and everything in between.  In the past twenty years, he has toured the United States, Japan and Europe with Grammy winning hip-hop group the Digable Planets, Motown artists Zhane, jazz great Bobby Previte’s Bitches Brew project, salsa legend Orlando Marin, groundbreaking Greek worldbeat act Annabouboula, as well as a stint with rock diva Ronnie Spector, just to name a few.  Peter has performed with all of New York City’s major flamenco figures and companies as well as with visiting artists from Spain, including Alejandro Granados, Raul Ortega, and Antonio Hidalgo.  He has also toured with French tap dancer Roxanne Butterfly and her World Beats project in Montreal and the Eastern U.S. with a recent performance in New York at Joe's Pub.

LIA OCHOA

One of New York City’s up and coming flamenco artists, Lia is an accomplished soloist, choreographer and director with a strong background in theatre.  She has performed and toured the US with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana (including performances at the Joyce Theater), Andrea del Conte Danza España,  Pasion y Arte, M’Oro Flamenco and Oscar Valero’s Fuerza.  Acting credits include Naranja in Buicks (Paragon Theatre Company), Masha in The Seagull (Norton Theatre), Ariel in The Tempest (Durango Shakespeare Festival), and a cameo appearance dancing in the film Pink Panther 2 with Steve Martin. She co-produced and performed in Flamenco: Plugged and Unplugged a collaborative multimedia flamenco experience at Monkey Town in Brooklyn and again at Bleecker Street Theatre.  Lia is a two time recipient of a Jacob's Pillow Scholarship, first to study with Noche Flamenca, and second to participate in the Choreographer's Lab under Big Dance Theatre. She is also the recipient of the NoMAA Grant for Individual Artists.  Lia has become a staple in the NYC flamenco scene, and can be seen regularly in local tablaos such as Pipa, Alegrias, El Circulo Español and Tapas España, among others.

CRISTIAN PUIG
Cristian was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, son of Gloria Monreal, flamenco singer and Pablo Puig, flamenco guitarrist.  His musical studies include jazz, bossa nova, Argentine tango, contemporary music as well as classical and flamenco guitar.  From 1985 to 2000 Cristian collaborated with various groups and flamenco companies performing in Argentina, including his own flamenco fusion group Rabat, which fused jazz and bossa nova with flamenco by integrating instruments such as piano, electric guitar and saxophone, experimenting with his original compositions.  Rabat toured Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Chile. 

Since his debut in NYC in 2000,Cristian has performed and composed for companies such as Andrea Del Conte Danza España, Pasion y Arte, Atrévete, Pilar Rioja, M’oro Flamenco, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, Flamenco Ole, Flamenco Puro, Gerard Edery and Ziva Cohen.  He has performed with many notable artists including Los Pericet, Chango Farías Gomez, Quique Sinesi, Hector Romero, Pablo Mainetti, Rafael de Triana, Raul Arnedo, Antonio Hidalgo, Antonio Granjero, Isaac de los Reyes, Raul Ortega, Oscar Valero, Elena Andujar, Olimpia Estrella, La Meira, Antonio Vargas, Samir Chatterjee, Chuscales, La Repompa de Malaga, Raquel and Amparo Heredia, Edwin Aparicio, Jesus Montoya, Peter Nero, among others. www.cristianpuig.com
